An Assembly Such as This

by Pamela Aidan

Dear Reader,
While I have read many novels inspired by the works of Miss Austen, An Assembly Such as This is my first foray into the world of fanfiction.

Ms. Aidan takes the story of Pride and Prejudice and tells it from Mr. Darcy’s point of view. Bo-ring. There is a reason why P and P centers around Elizabeth Bennet, not Mr. Darcy—Mr. Darcy is not the most interesting character!

That having been said, this novel takes us from the arrival of Bingley at Netherfield to the disastrous ball at Netherfield and Mr. Darcy’s subsequent actions in London. Not interesting.

What more can I say? Fanfiction is not for me.

  1. I love the Republic of Pemberley store! I just despise people who haven't any original thoughts, so they write fanfiction!

I'm debating between the "Retrench!" mug, and the "Mr. Darcy is my severest critic" mug. I already have the beach towel with the opening lines of P&P (I think I got that from Bas Bleu).

Glad to see that you're still reading! Hope the new job is going well. :)
