Sweetblood

by Pete Hautman

Sixteen-year-old Lucy Szabo has some strange ideas about vampires: that they exist and that diabetics are one form of vampires. Coping with typical teenage angst and an inability to control her diabetes, Lucy is sucked into a strange world, online and off, of vampire worship.

A definite departure from my last read, Sweetblood is a young adult novel that serves as a "breather" before more high-falutin' literature. I chose it for its vampire theme, but was disappointed in its twist on the vampire legend.
