Carmen's a fourteen-year-old girl with a problem: her mother has an eating disorder. Additionally, she harasses Carmen about her weight. When her mother decides to move the family back to her hometown, the upset in Carmen's life drives her to dangerous behavior, behavior like her mother's.

This is an engrossing tale of eating disorders with a twist: mom has the disorder. Carmen recognizes her mother's problem and in desperation, copies it. Recommended.
