First, I must tell you, I know nothing about these overachievers. I was one of the smart, but lazy students. Oh, sure, I was in classes with these people and even friends with these people, but I never behaved like these people. So, what made me pick up this book? A colleague was telling me about her daughter's college applications process. I heard about how hard it was to get into schools that were formerly not so hard to get into. What's happening out there? Who's going to Harvard these days? And how are they doing it?
So, there are these kids who do nothing but school (study and extracurricular activities). No one has a job, and no one has any responsibilities around the house (caring for siblings, making dinner, cleaning, etc.). That's how they're doing it. And they have to do it that way. With more students going to college, but the same number of freshman slots, the competition for the best schools is tougher than ever.
Sit back and read about these spoiled Maryland students (Taylor, Julie, Audrey, and Sam, for starters) and their fabulous academic achievements. You can also follow "AP Frank" to Harvard and see how he copes with college after the grueling experience of high school.

One last thing: please read that Opal Mehta book--it's far shorter and much more fun!
