by Minette Walters
War correspondent Connie Burns has seen it all and written about it. When she is abducted and tortured, Connie's life changes dramatically. Once released, she escapes to Dorset, where she lives in the fear of being captured again by Mackenzie, her torturer.
But it's not that simple. Her stay at Barton House is peppered with the family drama of Jess Derbyshire and Madeline Wright Harrison. With all sorts of distractions, Connie may not be able to defend herself against Mackenzie. Or can she?
A great suspense novel. My only complaint is that the story goes on for quite a few pages after the great climax. Still, it is a good effort from Walters.
