Who is Gingerbread? She is the beloved rag doll of Cyd Charisse. Not the movie star, but the teenaged girl who lives in San Francisco and was named after the movie star. Cyd Charisse is an original: she's really tall, really rebellious, and she has a boyfriend named Shrimp. She got kicked out of a fancy boarding school and is now back in San Francisco, trying to get things right.

Things aren't easy with her parents, Sid and Nancy. When the opportunity to spend time with her birth father arises, Cyd Charisse hops on a plane. While in New York, Cyd learns about her other family (father and step-sibs) and herself.

This book is the bomb. It is my new favorite novel written for young adults. Cyd is so cool; her voice is unforgettable.
