by Dave Eggers
What is the what, and why would you want to read about it? The meaning of the title is explained early in the novel, and you will keep reading because Dave Eggers has presented us with a compelling story (a fictionalized biography, to be exact) about a lost boy of Sudan.
“It’s too big,” you’re thinking, “and I don’t really know anything about Sudan.” Believe me, reader, it’s not too big, and you’ll know a lot about Sudan when you’re finished with this fabulous novel.
You will meet Valentino Achak Deng, and you will feel for him. You will walk with him from Sudan to Ethiopia, and you will be with him when he gets robbed in Atlanta. You will ache for him and all that he has lost, and you will wonder why nobody ever told you about the lost boys.
