The Lost Duke of Wyndham

by Julia Quinn

A new Julia Quinn--hooray! Thomas Cavendish is the Duke of Wyndham. He lives with his cranky grandmother, the dowager Duchess of Wyndham. His grandmother's companion, Grace Eversleigh, is an orphan with no social connections whatsoever.

Everything changes when the carriage of the dowager is stopped by highwaymen. The dowager recognizes the thief, for he bears an uncanny resemblance to her late son. Thus begins the conflict. . .

Jack Audley, the highwayman who attacked the carriage (and stole a kiss from Miss Eversleigh), is the dowager's grandson. And what does this mean? It means that Thomas no longer holds the title of the Duke AND that the woman to whom he is betrothed is no longer an option (not that he cares).

A good, quick read and a definite improvement over the last few offerings from JQ.
