by Denis Boyles
A few years ago, everyone was asking "What's wrong with Kansas?" In his book, Boyles demonstrates that nothing is wrong with Kansas. Or Nebraska. Or any other Midwestern state that happens to vote for the republican candidates for president.
His core argument: residents of the red states are really, on the whole, moderates. They vote for democrats at the local level and republicans at the national level. These folks work hard, support each other, and support their towns. And there's nothing wrong with that.
As someone who knows folks from Kansas and Nebraska, I know that what he writes is true. Boyles gives readers a better understanding of the values of these people.
Easy to read, and, of course, interesting to read during an election year.
