In the Woods

by Tana French

When young Katy Devlin is found dead in the woods, Rob Ryan is one of the detectives assigned to the case. One problem: Adam Robert Ryan has his own history in the woods. As a child, he and his two best friends played in the woods a lot. But one day, two of them never came out of the woods. Rob has no memory of what happened, and the case has remained unsolved.

So, as he works to solve the Devlin murder, he struggles with his own demons in the woods.

Gripping, particularly with the then-and-now storyline, but I found the ending to be really unsatisfying.
