by Charles Dickens
It's my 11th Dickens novel in 2008!
Bleak House contains all that a novel by Dickens should: a long, elaborate plot, several colorful characters, the triumph of good over evil (at least in some cases), and an indictment of the rich, as well as the law.
This novel features two competing and intertwining stories: the coming of age of Miss Esther Summerson (orphan, of course) and the famed case of Jarndyce and Jarndyce.
This novel also features two different narratives: one third person narrative and Esther's (first person) narrative.
If you enjoy thick, engrossing novels by Dickens, this one is for you. If you enjoy a quick read, skip this one.
