by Steve Hockensmith
It is at a small village funeral that the Bennet sisters first encounter an unmentionable aka dreadful aka zombie. The girls are shocked and totally unprepared by what is to follow.
Their father, the dry and sarcastic Oscar Bennet, will insist upon the girls being trained to fight and kill the unmentionables. They will even learn from a master of the deadly arts. Of course, there will be a ball and some romantic interests for Jane and Elizabeth. But mostly there will be zombies. Lots and lots of brain-eating zombies.
I really enjoyed this prequel to P & P & Z. Hockensmith really captures the spirit of Austen and combines it with the horror and hilarity of zombies. What better way to spice up Regency England?!
