Neverwhere

by Neil Gaiman

Richard Mayhew is an ordinary young man making his way in the city. He has a promising business career in London and a demanding fiancée. Everything is fine.

Well, everything’s fine until he helps an injured girl on the street. Then his world is turned upside down or at least underneath. With Door, the girl he rescues, Richard enters a new world underneath the city. Their adventure together includes good guys, bad guys, talking rats, killer beasts, and even an angel.

Thought the story itself is strange, it is not a difficult read. A couple of interesting characters and the desire to see Richard return to London Above propelled me through this quirky novel.
