Woman with Birthmark

by Håkan Nesser

Maria Adler’s mother makes a deathbed confession to her daughter, but the reader does not know the content of the confession. All we know is that Maria has a list of names, and she is determined to kill each man on the list. And she does it in such an interesting way!

Enter Inspector Van Veeteren. It is up to him to find the connection between the victims and apprehend the murderer. Unfortunately, he always seems to be a step behind our killer.

This is more of a suspense novel than a mystery, and the killer’s motive is obvious long before the author reveals it. Still, it’s a fast-paced and interesting police procedural from Sweden.
