The Night Circus

by Erin Morgenstern

Le Cirque des Rêves is a most unique operation. The circus arrives without warning and is only during the evening hours. It adheres to a color scheme of black and white. And the performers are second to none.

Enter Celia Bowen, the illusionist of Le Cirque des Rêves. As a child, she was bound to another child, who was also raised to be a magician. With their common venue, the circus, Celia and her opponent, Marcus, will battle to determine who the superior magician is. Of course, things become complicated when the two fall in love.

This novel is big on plot and setting, but contains very little character development. And the ending is sort of lame, too. It is an enjoyable read, but only if you refrain from analyzing it.
