Pardonable Lies

Maisie Dobbs is back, and she’s got plenty on her plate this time. In this 3rd entry in the series, Maisie works on three different cases:

• She is hired by wealthy widower Sir Cecil Lawton to confirm his son’s death in the war,

• Her friend, Priscilla Evernden, asks her to find out where her brother, Peter, died during the war, and

• Maisie seeks to get murder charges dropped for a young woman.

I found this novel to be a bit convoluted with all of Maisie’s different cases. The author really should have simplified the plot. Still, I love Maisie and admire this mystery series.
