Mr. Fox has a wife and four small Foxes. He lives in a hole under a tree. The tree is in a wood on a hill above a valley.
Down in the valley, there are three farms. The owners of the farms are:
• Farmer Boggis: chicken farmer,
• Farmer Bunce: duck and goose farmer, and
• Farmer Bean: turkey and apple farmer.
One day the farmers decide that they are tired of Mr. Fox stealing their goods. They wait outside his hole with their guns, forcing the Fox family to stay in the hole for days.
