London's Annabel Essex wants to marry a wealthy man, nay, she needs to marry a wealthy man. When she is unwittingly compromised by the Earl of Ardmore, she agrees to marry him, in spite of his seeming lack of money. After all, he is quite the handsome and lusty Scot. On the way to his home in Scotland, she discovers otherwise: he is exceedingly wealthy. He is so wealthy that he cannot understand her own struggles to make ends meet. Can they overcome their differences and live happily ever after? Or will her family rescue her before it's too late?
This is a fine regency romance recommended by Julia Quinn. I enjoyed Annabel and Ewan (Ardmore), though I found some of the sexual scenes somewhat laughable.
