Sophie Stanton is a 36-year-old widow. After 3 years of marriage, her husband Ethan died of cancer. And now she is a wreck. She cannot work, she eats uncontrollably, and she cannot get past her grief. No shrink and grief group can help her.
Good grief! Could she be any more of a whiner? I remember hearing good things about this book when it came out. What, I wonder, was the appeal? Sure, she finally gets it together and starts her own fabulous bakery, but even that doesn't ring true for me. After all, the reader is never told that Sophie can bake. No mention of her culinary talents before Ethan died.
Not recommended. Reader, resist the cute cover (bunny slippers) and read something else.

Man that sounds horrible. What do the bunny slippers even have to do with the book?
How are you coming along on "The Mists of Avalon"? Or are you giving it up
She shows up at work in her robe and bunny slippers. She's just so overwhelmed by her grief. Totally unbelievable. The cover is totally cute.
I quit the Mists. It's another book that I just won't ever read. Toooooooo slow.
