We Are All Welcome Here

by Elizabeth Berg

Paige Dunn was living in an iron lung when she delivered her baby, Diana. Fourteen years later, Diana is only one of her mother's caregivers, as Paige can only move her head and is attached to a respirator. Her mother's disability has become a part of life, and Diana has more pressing concerns: boys, her best friend Suralee, and the dream of having a canopied bed.

This is a sweet and sentimental look at the relationship between mothers and daughters, caregivers and patients, and blacks and whites during the 1960s. Both sad and hopeful, Berg's novel will touch readers of all ages and experiences.
