The Demon of River Heights

by Stefan Petrucha

It's Nancy Drew in graphic novel form! Written for young adults, this breezy graphic novel follows a thoroughly modern Miss Drew and her pals, Bess and George, as they try to solve another silly mystery. Revealing more details would spoil too much of the already thin plot. Suffice it to say, it is an extremely quick read.

When I saw this book on the shelf, I was excited to see another incarnation of Nancy Drew. I must admit, I was disappointed in this one. I enjoyed the novels of yore and their endless descriptions of Nancy's clothes, car, and titian hair. A graphic novel doesn't waste words on that sort of nonsense. Still, this graphic novel may lead some young woman to the good stuff (Carolyn Keene).
