Rise and Shine

by Anna Quindlen

Meghan Fitzmaurice has it all: a great morning talk show, a fabulous husband, and the best son in the world. Her sister, Bridget, has none of these things. Bridget, by contrast, is a social worker with a modest income, has a boyfriend who's 20 years older than she is, and doesn't plan on having any children.

When Meghan's life falls apart, it is up to Bridget to be the strong sister. But can she do that after being taken care of by Meghan for so long?

At best, this novel is uneven and choppy. Meghan is not a sympathetic character, and the plot borders on boring, until a shocking event occurs in the last 50 pages or so. Definitely not worth your time. Instead, read Black and Blue or Blessings.
