Steamed

by Jessica Conant-Park & Susan Conant

"A Gourmet Girl Mystery"

So, this is a mystery written by Susan Conant (of dog mystery fame) and her daughter, Jessica. Jessica is married to a chef and has a degree in social work. Knowing this, let the review begin. . .

Chloe Carter is a 25-ish foodie who is pursuing her master's degree in social work, but only as a condition of her inheritance from her uncle. Hmmmm. . . She goes on a blind date with a lout named Eric, who is quickly murdered at the restaurant, Essence, which he has been considering as an investment opportunity. Of course, it is up to Chloe to solve the murder.

This is not a great mystery. Chloe isn't a well developed character and isn't very appealing either. The writing is awkward, and the mystery isn't very rewarding. Save your time--take a pass on Steamed.
