Because She Can

by Bridie Clark

Why does Vivian Grant publish the sleaziest books you could ever imagine? Because she can. Why does she scare all of her assistants into quitting within 2 weeks? Because she can. Why does she intimidate all of her editors into working far harder and longer than they should? Because she can.

This is the thinly veiled tell-all about Judith Regan, and after I read something about Ms. Regan, I have to say, this isn't very thinly veiled at all. No matter. This is a great tale about the fearless, ruthless, selfish, bully of a boss that would be any normal person's nightmare. In this case, she's the boss of innocent Claire Truman, a girl who just wants to get ahead.

If you liked The Devil Wears Prada or The Nanny Diaries, you'll love this novel. It's fast, it's snappy, and the Vivian rants/tantrums are quite entertaining. This is a great read for the beach or the train ride to work.
