"Keep your mouth shut and wear beige"--classic advice for the mother of the groom. Unfortunately, Darcy Van Aiken isn't your typical mother of the groom. She's an ICU nurse with ADD, and she's still extremely bitter and insecure since her recent divorce.
When her son, Jeremy, gets engaged to Cami, all of Darcy's insecurities bubble to the surface. Cami's family is extremely wealthy--how can she compete? And there's another issues: her ex's new girlfriend, Claudia, the Martha Stewart of the sewing world. How can Darcy be involved in her son's life when every other female is more aggressive than she is?
At first, I hated Darcy. She is petty and insecure and truly annoying. But somehow I got sucked into the story and couldn't put down the book.
I think the author's writing is all over the place and really unfocused. Her last novel, A Most Uncommon Degree of Popularity has the same problems as this novel.
