Who is the little giant of Aberdeen County, and is she really a giant? Meet Truly Plaice, a woman who is large when she is born and just keeps on growing. Truly is the younger sister of Serena Jane, the prettiest, most dainty gal in Aberdeen county, and she is the daughter of an alcoholic barber. Her mother died after giving birth to Truly. As you might guess, life is not great for Truly Plaice.
But Truly endures. She attends school with her sister and watches her father self destruct. She also watches her sister self destruct. For some reason, in spite of it all, Truly is a survivor. She learns to adapt, and she learns to accept her circumstances, no matter what. And believe me, her circumstances are never good.
To reveal any more of the plot wouldn't be fair. Readers will be amazed by Truly's story and come to love Truly as I have.
A wonderful novel.
