When I was a sophomore in college, I wrote a paper entitled, “Filippo Brunelleschi: Architect and Innovator.” Twenty years later, I truly learned the meaning of that paper’s title.
The Duomo at Santa Maria del Fiore is a Florentine icon. Brunelleschi’s design and execution is detailed in this sometimes interesting (and sometimes dry) account of the Duomo’s conception and construction.
