JPod

by Douglas Coupland

Brought together by last names that start with “J,” Ethan Jarlewski and his five co-workers are trapped in the no-man’s-land known as JPod. No one requests to work in JPod, nobody transfers out of JPod; it is the one area of the Vancouver video game company that everyone wants to avoid.

For its inhabitants, JPod is a whole other universe. The JPod’ers engage in all sorts of mental contests to make their jobs seem more interesting.

But the truth is, Ethan’s private life is pretty darn interesting. Heck, he even meets Douglas Coupland on a flight to China.

I like this novel, but I am still unsure of how to best describe it. If you like Office Space and video games and pop culture, you’ll love JPod.
