Innocent

by Scott Turow

It’s been more than twenty years since Rusty Sabich’s big day in court. He is now the state appellate court’s chief judge. He is still married to his wife, and his son is all grown up now. All seems well for Rusty, until his wife dies.

Thought the coroner rules her death to be by natural causes, others are suspicious of Rusty. Soon it is déjà vu all over again for Judge Sabich. Tommy Molto steps in to charge him with murder, and the venerable Sandy Stern answers the call to defend him.

This novel started out very slowly. In fact, I almost gave up on it. Luckily, Turow’s writing shines when the story turns to the courtroom. While I did like this novel, I have to admit that Turow may have lost his touch.
