by Benjamin Black
Quirke is back and somewhat more sober than when we saw him last.
His daughter is concerned: she has neither seen nor heard from her friend, April Latimer, in more than one week. The plot thickens when traces of blood are found in April’s apartment. Eager to help, Quirke immediately begins searching for his daughter’s friend.
This novel is just not as good as the first two in the series. It lacks the atmosphere and tight writing of the first Quirke novel. It also lacks a solid and interesting mystery.
