The Mischief of the Mistletoe: A Pink Carnation Christmas

by Lauren Willig

It has been several years since I read The Secret History of the Pink Carnation. I liked it a lot, but just never got around to reading the next book in the series. Since then, quite a few books have been published in the series. When I saw this Christmas novel at the library, I just could not resist!

Miss Arabella Dempsey has been displaced: since her aunt got married, she is no longer needed as a companion. Needing another occupation, Arabella accepts a teaching position at Miss Climpson's Select Seminary for Young Ladies.

On her first day at the school, she meets a student, Sally Fitzhugh, and her older brother, Reggie "Turnip" Fitzhugh. On this day, she also encounters a mysterious Christmas pudding. And the fun begins!

The pudding and someone's desire to attain it propel our story forward. Strange happenings after dark, the ransacking of Arabella's room, and more than one moment of danger spice up Miss Dempsey's holiday season.

And then there's the romance with Turnip. . .

Sweet, clever, and entertaining! I'm definitely going to check out the other books in this series.
