Yarn: Remembering the Way Home

by Kyoko Mori

Hoping to read a book that seamlessly knits together life and the fiber arts, I was somewhat disappointed in Mori's thoroughly depressing memoir.

From her mother's suicide to her unsuccessful marriage, Mori examines her development as a woman and a knitter. The failed mittens of her childhood are certainly not a precursor of all that is to come. After all, Mori does enjoy success as a writer. Moreover, she becomes an accomplished knitter, spinner, and even weaver.

But mostly, this is a book about her failed marriage, which is a downer, to say the least.
