by Portia de Rossi
Before she was the wife of Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi struggled with her weight. A lot.
From an early age, she engaged in yo-yo dieting, motivated by her modeling jobs. Before she came to the States, she had an eating disorder. But when she landed a role on Ally McBeal, her eating disorder expanded and grew out of control. She wasn’t just engaging in unhealthy behavior; she was killing herself. At one point, the actress dropped to a mere eighty-two pounds and could barely function. But she was thin!
I could not stop reading this fast-paced and engrossing memoir. De Rossi’s writing is honest, and her story is compelling.
