Her Royal Spyness

by Rhys Bowen

Meet Lady Victoria Georgiana Charlotte Eugenie, or Georgie for short. She is the daughter to the Duke of Glen Garry and Rannoch and 34th in line for the throne. In other words, Georgie is royalty, kind of.

Georgie has a problem: she is twenty-one and hasn’t found a husband. Her brother, Binky, has just cut off her allowance. So, Georgie does what any modern girl would do—moves to London and searches for a job. After all, Georgie is a fairly clever girl; surely, she can find some sort of gainful employment, even if it does involve housekeeping.

Anyway, things heat up for Georgie when she finds a dead body in her bathtub. All of the evidence points to Binky, so it’s up to Georgie to protect her brother and find the real killer.

And the title of the book? That has to do with Georgie’s little side job—acting as a “spy” for HRM. In this case, Georgie is assigned to check out the prince’s new lady friend, Mrs. Simpson. This is a delightful start for a cozy series.
