Caleb and Camille Fang are performance artists. And they are also parents to Annie and Buster. Annie and Buster are also part of the performances and billed simply as "child A" and "child B." As you may imagine, their childhood was a bit unusual.
The Fang family's story is told through a combination of flashback (each chapter starts with a piece of performance art) and the present (what Annie and Buster are doing now--acting and writing novels, respectively).
When Annie and Buster return home after years away, they receive a most unusual surprise from their parents. After years of performance art, neither sibling is sure if what is happening is real or just another Fang performance.
Excellent!
