The national Youth Scrabble Tournament brings together three unlikely young people:
Nate Saviano, who is only playing to appease his father, who once made it to the finals (and lost);
April Blunt is a word nerd amongst jocks and is dying to prove to her family that Scrabble is a sport; and
Duncan Dorfman, the new kid in town whose mother supports the family by working at Thrifty Mike's, which is only the beginning of Duncan's humiliation.
Friendships are made, secrets are revealed, and a simple board game brings folks together in wonderful ways.
