A Discovery of Witches

by Deborah Harkness

I absolutely devoured this enchanting novel of love, alchemy, witches, and vampires.

Our story begins in Oxford’s Bodleian Library. Scholar Diana Bishop inadvertently unearths an enchanted alchemical manuscript. Did I mention that she is also descended from witches? Anyway, her discovery attracts the attention of witches, vampires, and daemons, including the dashing Matthew Clairmont. Not only is Matthew handsome and intelligent, he is also a vampire.

So, everyone (aforementioned creatures) is in pursuit of this alchemy book. Luckily, Diana has the powerful and sexy Matthew to protect her. As she narrowly escapes danger at every turn, Diana begins to realize the significance of the manuscript. The question is: can she embrace her witch heritage and power before someone (or something) captures her?

Great. I’m looking forward to reading the sequel.
