Rainey Royal is unlikable. Period.

Maybe she is unlikable because her mother left her father and left Rainey without a positive female role model in her life. Maybe she is so unlikable because of her association with her father, who is a creepy, womanizing, manipulative musician. The man has a cult-like following and brings his followers into the home. Maybe she is unlikable because a 14-year-old doesn’t belong in Greenwich Village in the 1970s, especially not one who often has to fend for herself.

Whatever the reason, the feeling is strong: yuck! Rainey is not a nice person, and it becomes increasingly difficult to feel sorry for her, no matter what the circumstance is.

Take my advice: skip this one!
