Trinkets

by Kirsten Smith

A Shoplifter’s Anonymous meeting introduces readers to three young women:

• Moe: orphaned and lonely, struggling to find her way in the world,

• Tabitha: golden girl of her high school—wealthy, beautiful, and dating the hottest guy in school, and

• Elodie: still struggling with her mother’s death and her father’s remarriage.

These girls, based on appearances, share nothing in common. But they do—they enjoy shoplifting!

As their experience in the group progresses, so does their friendship. Each young woman is forced to examine herself and how she wound up at an SA meeting.

This is an easy read with fun and likable characters. It’s not great literature, but it’s definitely a novel for young adult readers to devour.
