The Spellman Files

by Lisa Lutz

For Isabel “Izzy” Spellman, the family business can be suffocating. Both of her parents are private investigators, and so is Izzy. Also, her younger sister, Rae, is an aspiring PI, who engages in surveillance much like Harriet the Spy. While the job is fun, being related to a family of spies is not fun. Nothing, and I mean nothing, is sacred in this family. Boyfriends are grilled, followed, and photographed, and Izzy’s had enough!

When Izzy tries to quit, her parents assign her one final case: a missing child case from over 10 years ago. While the case distracts Izzy, it also sharpens her investigative skills. And just when she thinks she’s had enough, she realizes that investigation is her true calling.

Funny and quirky, some may liken Izzy to Stephanie Plum. While not a bad comparison, I have to admit, I like Izzy more than that bounty hunter from Jersey.
