by Barbara Kingsolver
Dellarobia Turnbow is ready to leave her family and move forward in her life. On the fated morning of her planned departure, she is stopped by a spectacle on the mountain. A sea of orange makes the mountain appear to be burning, but upon closer examination, the orange is thousands of monarch butterflies.
The butterflies have migrated from Mexico to rural Tennessee, and nobody knows why. Dellarobia’s discovery leads to scientists flocking to the family’s mountain. It also leads to a tough decision: leave the mountain as it is or continue with the plan to sell it to loggers.
In a mix of biology lessons, family ties, and self-discovery, Kingsolver weaves her most engrossing and engaging tale yet. Amazing!
