Medium Raw

by Anthony Bourdain

Ten years after the publication of Kitchen Confidential, Bourdain is still banking on its success.  Unfortunately, Medium Raw cannot even begin to compete with Kitchen Confidential.

Medium Raw is basically a series of random confessions and rants from Bourdain.  Bo-ring.  I mean, Bou-ring! I much prefer the down-and-dirty insider revelations of his other book.

In only one chapter did I think to myself, "Wow!  This is how I'd hoped the entire book would be!"  That chapter is "My Aim is True," and it discusses a shift in the life of the fish prep guy at Le Bernadin.  Absolutely fascinating.

All in all, this was a big disappointment.
